People who believe this shit piss me off. Birth Control pills are prescribed for MANY reasons other than preventing pregnancy. It can be prescribed for hormone imbalances, acne treatment, irregular or painful menstrual cycles, ovarian cysts, or anemia.  Birth Control and Abortions shouldn’t even be compared.

And even if BC pills were used ONLY for preventing pregnancy, I don’t hear any Republicans complaining about men getting prescriptions for Viagra so they can get it up and IMPREGNATE THE WOMEN THEY REFUSE TO GIVE BIRTH CONTROL TO.
Like, do you understand this? The government will PAY for men to fuck women, but NOT for women to be fucked and not get pregnant.
da fuq?

The government doesn’t pay for our birthcontrol.  In most cases, it’s paid for by our insurance companies.  Same with ED drugs.  Yes, many big named companies receive government funding, but it’s not always up to the government to decide what the insurance companies will cover or not—it’s up to the insurance companies—especially for private insurance companies.  So, you’re upset about your birth control not being covered, don’t go to the government…they won’t do anything.  Talk to your insurance company.
And in cases of government funding—they don’t HAVE to pay for our birth control.  But at the same time, if they won’t pay for our birth control, they shouldn’t be paying for ED drugs.  And, say they decide not to pay and women go without..they sure as shit better not whine and bitch about women expecting an abortion clinic to be at their disposal.  The government just can’t seem to grasp the idea that having access to cheap, affordable birth control would lead to a decrease in abortion.  And in the government’s eyes, abortion is equivalent to the bubonic plague.

If I’m feeling down or sick, I know I can always count on you guys for a pick-me up.

a-girlish-silhouette replied to your post: I’m pretty sure this is what it feels like to die.

I’m so sorry :( I hope you feel better soon.

It definitely evolved to 2nd degree burns all over my face and back.  Hopefully with a little aloe and a nice cold shower, I’ll be back to [almost] normal by the time I go back to work tomorrow.

Thanks so much :)

For those who are pro abortion, that’s your choice. I think its stupid for abortion. Its understandable about a women being raped and not wanting to have rapist child, I think rape is disgusting and against human rights. But for those who weren’t raped it takes a man and a female to make a child, and if you’re not careful then deal with the child.

So basically this isn’t really even about abortion being wrong, it’s about punishing people who have sex. Because really, if you HONESTLY thought that abortion was wrong, you wouldn’t even allow for rape victims to be allowed to have them.

Our parents tell us use protection, and make sure that we’re married before we having child. true in some factors makes it impossible to avoid parenthood before we are ready. But for the people who are worried about, not having finical prosperity, or being kicked out of church, or not finishing school, then put it up for adoption.

You need to do some research on adoption and how discriminatory it is. If your baby isn’t a healthy, white, male child, from a relatively well off family, chances are your child isn’t going to be adopted and will spend some hard time in the foster care system.

Birth control and condoms CAN and DO fail. So I guess even those of us who use them should be punished and shamed as well? I mean, even if people AREN’T using them, it’s really none of your fucking business, and it’s really not up to you to decide if people should have sex before or after marriage. Just sayin’.

And, you talk about people getting kicked out for having the child, but do you realize that some are kicked out just for being pregnant? Hell, some children are BEATEN AND KILLED because the got pregnant.

You also mention financial problems and school. You do know that there’s health care you have to go through WHILE you’re pregnant, yes? So if you can’t afford a child, what makes you think people can afford nine months of prenatal care and a huge hospital delivery bill? Not to mention the fact if people are in school, there’s not always options for them to stay in school if they’re pregnant. There are schools HERE IN AMERICA that will KICK OUT PREGNANT GIRLS. Do you grasp that?

And even if all of this wasn’t true, where do you get off thinking you have all the wisdom in the world to decide what are “right” and “wrong” reasons to get an abortion? Do you know EVERYTHING about EVERYONE who has gotten or plans on getting one? No? Then shut up.

There are couples, and single parents out there who want a child, but can have them because of medical issues.

People’s incapacity to conceive children is NOT a legitimate reason to FORCE people to be pregnant against their will. And I really do feel sorry for and sympathize with people who desperately want children but cannot have them, but really? You really think that people who cannot have children is a reason to make people keep a pregnancy they do not want? With that logic, we should be forcing people to be living organ donors, because, hey, that person DESPERATELY wants and needs a liver, and since you have a healthy one just sitting in your body, let’s chop some of it off, yeah?!?!

For those who are in that stage of thinking about getting one or not, do research on abortion cause there are drawbacks in physically and mentally.

Depression after an abortion CAN happen, but mood changes can happen after ANY medical procedure. And again, by this logic, we should be banning giving birth because of post-birth depression. Yeah, people get depressed after giving birth sometimes. Doesn’t mean that we’re going to make it illegal for people have babies.

Just because an embryo can’t think doesn’t mean that won’t matter when its born or becomes something.

This “but the fetus could be a doctor or a scientist or something!” is really silly. They could be a rapist or a dictator, too, so arguing the potential “greatness” of a fetus is pathetic at best and delusional at worst.

We need to stop taking things such as abortion as an escape goat for people who aren’t ready for parenthood. There are other avenues. But as I said in the beginning its different for those who bare a child of a man who raped them. We need to start accepting responsibility again, and appreciating life.

We need to stop thinking of sex as something that’s just for procreation and people who can get pregnant as society’s incubators. Abortion is not a “scape goat,” it’s a legitimate medical and life decision. People should be allowed to choose when they become parents, and children should always be born into home that want and love them.

And like I said in the beginning. This really isn’t even about you thinking abortion is wrong; this is about you wanting to control people’s sex lives and punish people for having sex and not wanting or not being able to care for a child.

In regards to the bolded area…apparently fetuses also make great soda.

and LOL at “escape goat”

hahahahahahaha.

Things that will help lower abortion rates:

  • Comprehensive sex education in schools.
  • Cheaper/easier access to birth control, condoms, and other preventative methods.
  • Openness and communication between parents and sexually active children.
  • Openness within the…

I’m all for abortion being legal.. but wouldn’t banning abortions kinda lower the amount of abortions?.. Because you know.. there would only be a select few who would go so far as to try to give themselves an abortion?… I guess the titles should have been lowering the amounts of unwanted pregnancies..

I get what you’re saying, and I do agree that lowering unwanted pregnancies CAN fit, but you’d be surprised at the lengths people would go to to get abortions. The number might go down SLIGHTLY, but if you’re in a situation where you absolutely do NOT want that pregnancy, I do not doubt that people would do whatever they could to end it.

I should have put “lowering unwanted pregnancies and unsafe abortions,” because that seems more fitting a title.

Keep in mind, at home abortions go well beyond the coat hanger stereotype.  There are medications you can take.  Drugs. Alcohol.  Accidents involving stairs.  More drugs.  More alcohol.  There’s a lot one can do to abort their fetus without bleeding out from it.  I mean..pretty much everything you’re NOT supposed to do while pregnant.  so no…banning them most likely will not lower the abortion rate because all you have to do is google “at home abortions” and I’m sure you’ll find all sorts of stuff.

I was driving down 28th street on my way to the grocery store.

28th street is hands down the busiest street in Grand Rapids.  60-100 cars in a miles stretch per minute…that’s not including rush hour traffic.

So, I’m driving, and I see a motorcyclist.  On the back, holding on for dear life was a girl who couldn’t be any more than 2’6 and 4 years old.  She was wearing a regular bicycle helmet.  I mean…there is nothing right about this scenario.  The only way it could be any worse at all is if she were wearing NO helmet.

Worst thing about this is some people don’t see how dangerous this is.

whoneedsfeminism:

I need feminism because without it - I would not have the right to vote, I would not have the right to hold office, I would not be able to take birth control or have any control over my body, I would be looked down upon for not having children at the age of 30 and choosing a career first, I would be considered a second class citizen

OMG..someone who refrained from the superficial bullshit typically posted on this blog.

whoneedsfeminism:

I need feminism because of this add by Axe (a men’s deodorant company)…
“Pick your kind of girl” — The options are from left to right, “la belle princesse” (the beautiful princess) , “la fille attirent” (the attractive, mysterious or ‘draw you in’ girl) , “la fille de party” (the party girl) , and finally, “la belle intello” (the beautiful intelligent girl) …

Oh…so men don’t get a preference when it comes to what kind of women they like?  Or what kind of women they want?
What a terrible thing for men to decide who they’re attracted to.
Shame on you, men.

because it’s 2012 and a bunch of men are sitting around debating women’s right to birth control.

No…they’re debating who’s pocket the money is coming out of to pay for it.  You want your birth control paid for 100%, then you should probably advocate for free condoms for men…sadly enough, women get free condoms all the time from the clinic, but it is not so easily accessible for men to get free condoms…and they’re the ones with the dicks!

Swing and a miss.  Better luck next time, Slugger!
